Statement 

Dr. Kallgren has taught history at UW-Marinette since 1995. He was chair of the UW Colleges History Department from 2008-2013. He received the “Faculty of the Year” award from the students at UW-Marinette in 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2011. His initial area of research was in analyzing the changing patterns of school attendance in the United States from 1850 to 1950. Later he published articles related to pedagogical issues in using technology in teaching history and effective practices in learning community courses. His recent area of study is in analyzing and tracking the changing patterns of food retailing in the city of Marinette, Wisconsin. He is currently the chair of the City of Marinette's Historic Preservation Commission, and has been the "Quizmaster" for the area's Hi-Q high school quiz program since 1996.
