Tonya Meisner joined the mathematics faculty in the fall of 2011. She is a UW-Marinette Alum who grew up in the area as well. Her teaching experience includes being a math teacher in the public schools for eleven years and also teaching courses online. Working with all ages of students in mathematics has given her the experience to understand that students learn mathematics differently. As the Developmental Mathematics Coordinator on campus, her goal is for students to have success in mathematics and she has implemented a module-based, mastery learning system for a number of math classes to help meet that goal. In December of 2013, Meisner was named the Kaplan Fellow Award recipient. In May of 2014, she received the Instructional Academic Staff of the Year Award and in August of 2014, she received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching for Instructional Academic Staff.
