High school attended: Marinette High School
Current program or major: Chemistry
Why did you choose UW-Marinette? I chose UW-Marinette because I have lived in Marinette all my life, and the lower tuition and guaranteed transfer program were attractive too.
What surprised you the most about UW-Marinette when you arrived on campus? I was surprised how many activities there were to for students to get involved. During my first week, there was an event every day, ranging from a scavenger hunt to an Ice cream social. Those were very fun!
Why did you choose your program/major? I chose chemistry as my major because I loved it in high school, and I continue to love it in college.
What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding? I am learning that I could become a professor or teacher and continue learning about science.
In addition to being a college student, what takes up your free time? Most of my free time is either devoted to spending time with friends and family. Otherwise, I am working in the kitchen at our local Applebee’s.
Who has been your favorite professor or staff member? This is a tough one. Many of the staff members have been super helpful, and very encouraging. Each has helped me improve. If I had to choose a favorite professor, it would be Mark Klemp. He has been very understanding with student finances involving textbooks, even letting me borrow a textbook for a semester. He also is very energetic in the classroom and tries to involve everyone.
What do you plan to do after UW-Marinette? I am torn between three colleges. I am interested in transferring to UW-Green Bay, UW-Stout or UW-Madison.
What is one piece of advice you have for incoming UW-Marinette students? Don't skip your classes! Whatever you have planned is probably not as important as the classes you are paying for!
