College is the perfect time to experience new things. As a student, you will discover your personal interests and learn what you truly enjoy doing. It’s easy to let this time in your life fly by, so don’t miss out on all of the fun things you can do. Use your time at UW-Marinette to knock these five items off your college bucket list.

Canoe the Peshtigo River

Consider a day trip to the Peshtigo River for some outdoor fun. These whitewater rapids are some of the strongest in the state and are for advanced canoeing. If you’re new to canoeing, consider renting an inner tube for a more relaxing experience on the river.

Plan a weekend trip to Door County

If you’re looking for a weekend adventure, look no further than Door County. This beautiful vacation spot is only an hour and a half from campus, perfect for a weekend getaway. Have a sweet tooth? Indulge in their famous cherry pie and custard shops. There is also plenty to do to stay active including hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding and biking around town. Sightseeing in Door County is also a great activity, so be sure to take in everything from the lighthouses to the springtime blooms.

Take it all in at Piers Gorge

Though the waters are too fast for canoeing, Piers Gorge has so much more to offer. Expert kayakers can enjoy these rapid waters. Others can take in the scenery and wildlife alongside the river on the trail. Did we mention the beautiful waterfalls? Be sure to bring your camera for this natural beauty.

Go chasing waterfalls at Dave’s Falls

Waterfall

Marinette County is the land of waterfalls, and Dave’s Falls is one you must see during your time in at UW-Marinette. Along with the actual waterfall, the scenery around it is worth exploring. Some other small waterfalls nearby are the Long Slide Falls and Smalley’s Falls. Try to check all of them off your list!

See a Theatre on the Bay production

Sound of music on stage

Theatre on the Bay has been a proud part of UW-Marinette for over 50 years. Shows for all interests from Sweeney Todd: The Barber of Fleet Street to the children’s theatre’s Seussical Jr. are going on this season. Experience the culture our theatre department has to offer. Make a night of it and grab dinner with friends and family before the show.

These five activities are a great start for any UW-Marinette student interested in making the most of their time in college.
