“Vacation Nation,” the work of artist David Wischer is currently on display in the Fine Arts Gallery at UW-Marinette Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. February 2, through March 18, 2016 with an artist’s reception and talk on March 17 at 12:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery. The public is invited to view these works which are heavily influenced by the artist’s personal observations of The Absurd. From current events to overheard conversations, the artist feels the world around him is a constant source of inspiration. Wischer stated, “As humans, we deal with money problems, noisy neighbors, unruly pets and all of the other things that make up our hectic and unpredictable daily lives. Where philosophers have struggled in the past to find the meaning of life in a world of such illogical uncertainty, I use the senselessness of daily life as a foundation for a dialogue with the viewer. We all experience The Absurd. Through my work as a visual artist, I hope to start a conversation about it.”

Wischer received his BFA in Graphic Design from Northern Kentucky University and his MFA in Printmaking from Purdue University. He has taught courses in Printmaking, Foundations Design, and Digital Art at both Northern Kentucky University and Purdue University and is currently a Lecturer in Studio Art at the University of Kentucky. David has exhibited his work in national and international exhibitions, and is in many private and public collections.
