The University of Wisconsin Continuing Education and Extension offers opportunities for children ages 6-18 to participate in theatrical productions. Since 1993, such well known plays as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Charlotte's Web, The Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Into the Woods, Hansel and Gretel, and Beauty and the Beast have given children valuable experience in what it means to be part of a live, theatrical production. Children learn valuable stage and life skills such as teamwork, responsibility and confidence.
See the Auditions & Involvement page for how to participate in and support Children's Theatre.
Children's Theatre 2016-2017 Season
The Little Mermaid
October 14 - 23, 2016
Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. This performance is adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home - and her friend - behind and live in the world above.
Goldilocks and the Three Pigs
February 10 - 19, 2017
Children's Theatre blends these two classics with a playful romp that begins with Goldilocks dashing into the house of the three Chop brothers. Yes, these are the same three pigs who lost two of the houses to the Wolf and they're still emotionally scarred from the incident! The end concoction is delightful take on a couple of old storybook standbys full of energy and enough humor and adventure for children of all ages!
