Theatre on the Bay will be holding auditions for "The 39 Steps" by Patrick Barlow and "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" by Tom Stoppard on January 30 and 31, 6:30 - 9 pm. Auditions will be held by appointment at UW-Marinette in Room T-133 in the Fine Arts building. For both shows, actors should be able to move well, memorize lines, and have evening and some weekend availability for rehearsals.
"The 39 Steps" will be directed by John Thornberry. The play is a comedic spoof of Alfred Hitchcock films with actors playing multiple roles. Rehearsals will take place from approximately February 12 through April 12. Performances will be April 13-15 and 20-22. Roles are available for one woman and two men (age range is flexible). One role is precast in this show.
"Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" will be directed by Patrick Mines. The play is a comedy in which two minor characters from William Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet assume the main roles. Casting is very flexible in terms of age and gender (some roles played by men may be played by women in this production depending on the casting pool). Performances will be April 27-29.
Callbacks will be held on February 1, 7 - 9 pm in the Theatre. Actors who are called back for a second audition will be notified via email late on January 31 after the initial round of auditions.
Please email TOB artistic director email@example.com (preferred) or call 715-735-4300 ext. 4314 for an audition appointment or further information. Indicate your date and time preference, which will be accommodated on a first-come basis. You do not have to be a UW student, nor do you need to have prior experience with theatre or acting. (UW students may receive course credit for acting in or providing technical or management assistance on the production by registering for CTA 131-001, 002, or 003).
Those auditioning should be prepared to read from pieces provided at the audition. Many roles are available for women and men of all ages. Character breakdowns for both plays are available on the Theatre on the Bay Facebook group page as well as on the UW-Marinette website (marinette.uwc.edu/theatre).
Please come at least 10 minutes prior to your audition slot and be prepared to list rehearsal conflicts. Scripts for both shows are available on two-hour reserve in the UW-Marinette library. You may audition for either or both shows. There is no fee to audition for or to perform in Theatre on the Bay shows. Theatre on the Bay fully supports color-, age- and gender-blind casting wherever it is possible and when our directors feel that such casting will benefit our productions. We welcome artists of any age, race, ethnicity, orientation or gender to apply to work with us, be it onstage, backstage or front of house.
