Theatre on the Bay announces combined auditions for Menominee River Mysteries: The Summer of ’27 and the radio play “The War of the Worlds” on September 13 and 14 between 6:30 and 9 pm. Auditions will be held by appointment at UW-Marinette in room M-110 in the main building.
Menominee River Mysteries will be directed by TOB artistic director Rebecca Stone Thornberry with playwright Anthony LaMalfa assisting. Rehearsals will take place in the evenings and on weekends from approximately September 20 through November 9. Performances will be November 10-12 and 17-19.
A live-action radio drama, “The War of the Worlds” will be performed on October 28 at the Herbert L. Williams Theatre as part of the ongoing “TOB Radio Playhouse” series. We will perform the 1938 adaptation of the H. G. Wells novel written for Orson Welles’ Mercury Theatre on the Air but are not adhering in all instances to the original broadcast’s gender casting. Rehearsals for “WOTW” will run between October 21 and 27. No memorization is required.
Please email email@example.com (preferred) or call 715-735-4300 ext. 4314 for an audition appointment or further information. Indicate your date and time preference, which will be accommodated on a first-come basis. Actors are not required to attend both audition nights. You do not have to be a UW student, nor do you need to have prior experience with theatre or acting. (UW students may receive course credit for acting in or providing technical or management assistance on the production by registering for CTA 131-001, 002, or 003).
Those auditioning may either prepare a 1-2 minute comedic or dramatic monologue, or be prepared to read from pieces provided at the audition. Many roles are available for women and men of all ages, including a pre-teen boy (Menominee River Mysteries). A character breakdown for Menominee River Mysteries is available on the Theatre on the Bay Facebook page
Please come at least 10 minutes prior to your audition slot and be prepared to list rehearsal conflicts. Scripts for both shows are available on 2-hour reserve in the UW-Marinette library. You may audition for either or both shows. There is no fee to audition for or to perform in Theatre on the Bay shows. Theatre on the Bay fully supports color-, age- and gender-blind casting wherever it is possible and when our directors feel that such casting will benefit our productions. We welcome artists of any age, race, ethnicity, orientation or gender to apply to work with us, be it onstage, backstage or front of house.
