Cast and Production Staff Announced for Dead Man's Cell Phone

By UW-Marinette

Theatre on the Bay has announced the cast and design staff for the upcoming play Dead Man’s Cell Phone by Sarah Ruhl.

Sitting alone in a café, Jean is bothered by the insistent ringing of a stranger’s cell phone. When he doesn’t answer it, she realizes he is dead. Compelled to answer the ringing phone, Jean becomes drawn into Gordon’s world and embarks on a journey in which she meets his mother, wife, mistress, brother and, in a fantastical and comical turn of events, Gordon himself. Soon Jean finds herself falling in love with Gordon’s brother Dwight and even participating in some of Gordon’s unsavory and illegal business dealings. Will Jean be able to extricate herself from her growing fascination with a dead man in order to begin a real relationship with Dwight? Or will her curiosity trap her in Gordon’s dangerous world?

Ruhl’s satirical, non-realistic comedy will be directed by Rebecca Stone Thornberry in April 2016. Cast members include Catherine VanVooren as Jean, James Porras II as Gordon (the dead man), Travis Meyer as Dwight, Carolyn McGuire as Mrs. Gottlieb, Hayley Maxwell as Hermia, and Katie Falk as Carlotta and the Stranger.

The production staff includes scenic and sound designer John Thornberry, lighting designer Lee Bunting, and costume designer Annalisa Mines. The stage manager is Kenan Pulver. The assistant stage manager is Hope Process. Brittany Welch and Benjamin Kmecheck are assistant directors.
