UW-Marinette will hold a Lunar New Year celebration from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11 in the cafeteria. The public is invited to attend this traditional event, also known as the spring festival in most Asian countries.

UW-Marinette’s celebration will feature family-friendly activities such as dragon mask painting for kids and a Chinese calligraphy station. UW-Marinette Chinese students will be showing attendees how to make traditional greetings and blessings. King Buffet will be catering the event with specialty Chinese foods as well as some local favorites.

According to Danielle Clarizio, International Programs Director, “The Lunar New Year gives us the opportunity to experience a major cultural event in the Asian calendar. With such a diverse population on our campus we are excited to share this festival with our students and community and hope that it can go a long way to improving awareness about other cultures and customs.

All of our international students are looking forward to sharing this experience with the local area and we hope that their enthusiasm for the event will be matched by visitors to the celebration.”

UW-Marinette is a freshman/sophomore campus of the University of Wisconsin system and offers a variety of courses that are the foundation for more than 250 majors.
